Magnesia Alumina Brick

MAGSCIE BRAND: MAL

Magnesia alumina brick(MAL) is made of magnesia and industrial alumina or alumina as raw materials, after grinding, forming, at about 1600℃ fired into a kind of alkaline refractory material. Its refractoriness is greater than 2000oC. Its thermal shock resistance is better than that of magnesia brick. And it can resist the erosion of alkaline slag. It is used to build the top of alkaline open hearth furnace and electric furnace for steelmaking.

In order to improve the thermal shock resistance of magnesia bricks, alumina or bauxite clinker fines are introduced into the ingredients to form a magnesium aluminum spinel matrix. In this way, magnesia alumina bricks are formed. Therefore MAL is an upgrade of pure magnesia brick

Characteristics

I. Good thermal shock stability and can withstand water cooling for 20-25 times, or even higher.

II. The load softening temperature of magnesia alumina brick is improved compared to that of magnesia brick, reaching 1620~1690℃.

III. The ability of magnesia alumina bricks to resist alkaline slag and iron oxide slag is stronger than that of magnesia bricks.

Application

It is widely used as working lining and safety lining at non-critical parts of traditional metal smelting furnace(such as open-hearth furnace, convertor and non-ferrous smelter) as well as small and medium size glass regenerator.
