Pouring steel brick

Pouring Steel Brick (also called Runner Brick) is a hollow refractory brick installed in the ingot base grooves, connecting the distribution bricks and ingot molds. Typically rectangular and hollow, these clay bricks feature smooth inner surfaces, precise shapes, and tight joints, which reduce the flow resistance of molten steel and prevent leakage.

They are usually made from high-purity alumina, corundum, or composite materials. Through precise formulations and advanced manufacturing techniques, pouring steel bricks maintain stable chemical and physical properties at high temperatures. The surfaces are often specially treated, such as with wear-resistant coatings or microporous structures, to further enhance resistance to erosion and abrasion.

In steel production, pouring steel bricks not only effectively separate molten steel from direct contact with equipment, reducing heat loss and energy consumption, but also significantly extend equipment service life and lower maintenance costs. Additionally, their excellent thermal conductivity helps maintain uniform steel temperature, improving the quality of the ingots.
