AOD Refining Furnace

AOD (Argon oxygen decarburization), is a process primarily used in stainless steel making and other high grade alloys with oxidizable elements, such as chromium and aluminum. After initial melting, the metal is then transferred to an AOD vessel. It will be subjected to three steps of refining: decarburizationreduction, and desulfurization.

Tuyere working lining: The working environment in this area is very harsh. It must withstand the intense erosion of strong alkaline slag and superheated steel liquid. As well as the strong thermal shock caused by the injection of cold argon oxygen mixed high-pressure gas. And temperature changes caused by intermittent operation. A Grade Magnesium dolomite brick – MD, and Fused Rebonded Magnesia Chrome Brick – RMK products are recommended.

Slag line zone working lining: Under very harsh working conditions, always being attacked by high alkaline slag and endured temperature changes. A Grade MD and RMK products are recommended.

Free zone and furnace bottom working lining: Under bad working conditions, always being attacked by high alkaline slag, eroded or splashed by molten steel. MD or Direct Bonded Magnesia Chrome Brick – DMK products are recommended.

Furnace arch zone working lining: Mainly under mechanical stress damage, MD or DMK products are recommended, reinforced castable are alternatives.
